The body is currently off of the ’57 to complete the initial body work.  Final paint will happen with the body back on the chassis.  Plans have been finalized to put a Y in the car with the C4 so that anyone around the shop can drive it without a competition license.  Putting a big inch engine in the car limits the driver possibilities while also requiring a mandatory frame certification so the plan is to keep the car in the tens or slower.  The chassis will certify to a 7.50 et though if I decide to put the big inch FE in the car later on.  For the Y, I have been considering using a factory 2X4 with the teapots on the car for some real nostalgia but will likely be run it as a single four barrel first just to keep it simple.

The valve cover vents are the ‘no name’ Edelbrocks.  The pictured breathers are the style requiring a gasket between the vent and the valve cover after the appropriate vent and attachment holes are placed in the cover itself.  There’s another style available that is slightly less than 90° but does use a rubber grommet instead of a gasket which is more of a leak free installation and requires a more simple drilled hole for the grommet and two holes for the retaining bolts.  Edelbrock part numbers for the two types are 4211 and 4212.

 

The water pump is a BBC aftermarket pump and I simply made a new backing plate so the electric drive and impellor would work with the Y timing cover.  Most of the aftermarket electric water pumps have the same basic bolt pattern behind the electric motor so most will work for this kind of project.  Here’s a couple more pics.

Ted, I've been dying to ask about the elec water pump and those valve cover vents since you posted your pictures. My home computer crashed two weeks ago and just got back up tonight. I've been able to read the forum from work, but National Guard Bureau has us blocked so we can't log into an outside site. Where did you get the vents (I've got to have a set) and tell us about the elec water pump.
