Hello I have taken apart my 1956 292 engine an I have been degreasing and removing the rust from all the parts .i have noticed my engine seems to be more orange than red like my 1955 272 in my other car. I am pretty sure this is the original paint can someone tell me of in 1956 they went orange thanks.

The engine color "thing" seems to be on going. I've never seen a definate color identity listed.. However, the original paint seems to have had an orange tint to it apparently, but is supposedly a Red, & not an S.B.C. Orange.. Helpful ??..

This is the paint I use on my YBlocks. The color you want is called "Ford Red". It's cheap and it's about as close as you will get to the factory color. Nothing worse than a Ford 292 painted with scruby orange. Yuck!!!

I use the same but noticed in my pictures it looks a little orange but that may be caused by the flash. It seems that after a few heat cycles it turns a little darker red.

It looks orange in the photos. In reality, it's darker.

That's a nice job, I like the detail on the engine.

I realy like the Hirsh paint. You can brush it on and if flows out nice. Spraying is also an option if you prefer. Easy to touch up with a brush down the road. The problem with exact color on any paint is that a lot of things can slightly change it. As long as you don't us scruby orange you'll be fine.
