This might be a stupid question.
I'm finally getting around to putting a Pertronix unit in my 57 Convertible. Looks to be pretty simple and straight forward. Only difficulty is that since it is a 368 Y-block the dist is on the back of the intake next to the firewall and kind of awkward to get to. Also there is no notch in the housing to feed the wires through. Planning on simply drilling through the Cap unless someone thinks that might be a mistake. I really don't want to pull and drill the housing. Any thoughts?  Will this cause a problem in the future as long as the wires clear the rotor?

Pertronix uses the original Hole in Distributor where Wire to Coil is. If Yours has the Insulated Stud where the Wire attaches to remove the Stud  and Trim the Rubber Insulator on Pertronix Unit until it pulls through Hole. You may want to enlarge the Hole with Drill but that would require removing the Distributor. Not a big deal if U set Motor at TDC on #1 Cylinder before removing Dist. I use a small Plastic Wire Tie  around the Insulator on the Outside of Housing so it does not pull back inside Distributor.
