On my 312 powered 54 Ford, I have an internal resistor coil.  It has served and is still serving me well.  I want to get another as a spare as I am gong on a fairly long trip.  I went this way because it was easier than setting up an external resistor when I rewired the car with an aftermarket kit.

When I originally got the coil I didn't worry about specs but it seems to have turned out ok.  But now that I am getting another one, I wonder what specs I should be looking for.  The number on the coil I have are gone so I'm starting anew.

Can anyone help me out on this?  As I said, the engine is a 312, later distributor (points), alternator.  I see a lot on ebay but don't know which one will be okay

Thanks for any help

About 3 ohm if not using an external resistor.

FYI  I am running a 1957 Ford distributor with a Pertronix I unit and no external resistor.  This combo requires a 1.5 ohm coil.
