Yep good to have the right percentage I tend to just run 1 gallon coolant myself

That makes a difference of my mixing 2 or 3+ gallons of concentrate - we can have very cold weather here (> -45 o F occasionally) in wintertime; so, I mix at the maximum protection of 66% (this is the lowest freezing point of ethylene glycol and water, according to the graphs & charts), rather than the 50% usual other places (only about -30 o F protection).  That's why I wanted to know.

'56 is 20 Quarts. '55 is similar I think.

  

my 1956 Ford shop manual shows 19 quarts car and station wagon and add 1 quart for heater so 20 quarts total.  That would be 5 gallons total.

Folks,
My shop manual is at another location; and, I need to know the coolant capacity for my 1955 Ford car Y-block (with heater) so that I can mix new coolant to bring to the other location: How many total quarts are specified (I seem to remember right around 17) for a complete fill?
