On my 61 f100 I reused the original passenger side manifold and blocked off the crosspipe opening with a piece of plate steel; the muffler attaches from there back to my body-side outlet.

On the Driver side I pulled the manifold from a parts 292, I picked up a few years ago, the flange is mounted forward and down at a 45 degree angle. From there I custom built the exhaust back to the body-side exit on the driver side.
I used 2.25" pipe because it was a close fit for the 2-bolt flanges I was able to find. I got this kit for $140 on sale:https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Universal-Mild-Steel-Dual-Exhaust-Mandrel-Bend-Kit-2-1-4-Inch,25216.html

Spent 2 Saturdays with a MIG using fluxcore 030 wire and had a spanky new exhaust system that I was quote $1200 to replace; All toll just under $200 and some elbow grease.

For use with manifolds, about 2" pipe is about the biggest that will fit and that should be more than adequate for your use.

Good morning all.  So I am working on an old 1958 Ford F-100 that I picked up and it has a 292 that is as stock as it can get.  This motor has never been opened up but has good compression and has been sitting for over about 30 ish years.  I am going to tear it down and rebuild it later on.  Currently it has the stock exhaust with that crossover pipe and I am going to remove that.  I am debating on doing a single or dual exhaust system.  I will most likely do a dual with manifolds instead of headers since I have 4 sets on hand.  I don't care about HP gains and all that because it is just an old farm truck that I am just going to drive and enjoy. I am debating on the diameter of the exhaust pipe to use.  I will probably not do a H or an X crossover and will probably use a glasspac of some sort.  Planning right now to have the exhaust come out just in front of the rear tires (long bed).  What diameter do you all recommend?  2.5" is what I have always used on previous builds but those have all been SBC applications.   Future build plans are a mild cam and not much more.  Has the stock 4 speed and will most likely keep that.
