Question of the day. I am looking at a 1960 pick-up short wheel base.  The truck has a 223 six in it. With a stock Four speed trans. My question is will a 292 V8
bolt up to this trans. The truck is in great condition, with No rust, or body damage.  Or would it be better to change out the Trans, along with the engine.
It is also a big rear window truck.  Thank  You  Bob  Harvey

Darrel;  Thank  You very much. The only thing that this truck needs is a paint job.  It has a very bad looking Green on it. The bed looks like it has never had a load in it. and it is rino coated.  If I get it I will post photo,s of it.Bob

Jumpstart.  You may want to swap out the transmission behind the six cylinder engine. I suspect that like the passenger cars of the era, the ratios Ford used in the standard transmission box were different for the six cylinder motor than they were for the V-8s.

That said, with the truck it may be easier to access the transmission for change-out than it is with the passenger cars.  Trying it first may save you some money!  Smile
