I just bought a 1958 wood boat with a 312 in it. I would appreciate any advise on what oil weight would be best to use in it. I have read different opinions and could use some sound advise. thanks

I've been running 10W-40 with high zinc content for many years. I don't think a boat application would be any different, but others may have different opinions.

Atholian. Click the link below to access a thread some eight months ago that starts out questioning what break-in oil to use after an engine rebuild, BUT covers several issues related to oil selection for use in a vintage FoMoCo y-block. I think this thread will answer your question and more. http://forums.y-blocksforever.com/FindPost134700.aspxHope this helps!
