Got new motor mounts; old ones were on with "C" facing front; I seem to remember that the open of the "C" should face towards back (been many years since last one!). Can someone verify, please?

Thanks, JLB

The person who built my car installed the mounts backward, makes the engine sit 2" forward of correct. He moved the radiator ahead of the support and clearance is good there. The only real problem was the Z-bar support bracket on the engine was 2" too far forward. I built a bracket to hold the socket in the correct position and all is well. The extra clearance between the distributor and firewall is welcome.

Thanks!  Just as I remembered.
Old ones were installed "backwards" -  "C" opening toward front; maybe contributed to their failure???

Also, interesting comment about  "more room" being welcome for distributor;  Radiator was installed as original and no fan interference even though engine was forward.

Thanks again for the pix. & info.  JLB

There was a poster on FORD BARN a little while back saying the oil filter (spin-on) was hitting the x-member and he had to use a smaller canister filter to change it more easily.

He showed a photo and the mounts were installed backwards. It turns out the 55 272 had a previous T5 swap and the fabricators answer to the trans fitting was to move the engine forward.
