I want to replace the dual action fuel pump on my 55 TBird 292 with a single action pump, but I don't want to refabricate the fuel lines. What pump am I looking for? Thanks!

The FE pumps will fit. I'm using a high performance 427 pump on mine.
Y's guys rule! Looking for McCullouch VS57 brackets and parts. Also looking for 28 Chrysler series 72 parts. And early Hemi parts.

I'd be interested in the old pump if you want to part with it.

Any of the FE 352 390 Engine Family will work. Rock Auto lists several under 1956 Ford Passenger car specifically for "Electric Wipers". In other words Single Action Pumps. One with Screw on Filter on the Bottom. Just remember the Arm goes UNDER the Cam when You install it. Angle the Arm down and start the Bolts into the Block or turn Engine over so You are on the Base of the Pump Lobe. Pump is marked "In" underneath so U know which Line goes where. You should have minimal mods to the Lines. I changed mine on the Weekend and Lines were very close as is. Rock Auto also has new Double Action "Airtex" Pumps for a very good Price. I believe they are New not rebuilds.

You will want to find the pump for the 428 Police Interceptor engine - late 60's. I will have to hunt for the parts reference ....... and it will take a new hard line up to the T-bird fuel filter. I had to "clock" the pump body around on mine to get a straight shot up, but not a big deal to do it. Holley also has a replacement part number for the pump and they are still available as well.

I have bought 2 Airtex pumps and on both the inner seal failed causing oil to come out of the vent holes. Needless to say I'm not too impressed with the quality.

This is an Airtex 362 pump spec'd for a 428 and the plumbing after clocking the ports around. The fuel filter is an AC that exactly replaces the glass bowl version that I've now got in a box in the attic. This is the Holley 80 GPH unit for the FE HP application.... the 80 GPH number is for free flow - NO BACK PRESSURE. The real number is about half that when there is a carb and filter in the line.

I am also using an FE Edlebrock high flow pump (120 GPH) and 3/8" fuel line. No issues.

Thanks for the input. I have used the Holley pump on my FE's in the past. I wasn't aware that it would work on a Y Block. I'm keeping all the original parts for the next owner.
