I removed the shroud and the fan blade. Cleaned them, sprayed them gloss black and cleaned TDC lines.  LOTS of room.  13/16 socket, 5 inch extension and breaker bar (1/2 dr). The socket does go on, sloppily.  I had to persuade it to go deeper on the nut.  Worked ok.

That's really tight in there to get a ratchet on the bolt and then try to turn it. I tried it yesterday myself and it's hard to get a few turns because of the fan blades.

It is 13/16 .    I managed to crank it 1/2 turn cw.   Just enough movement to indicate it was not mechanically bound up.  Next is to replace starter.  Thanks

What size socket do I need to turn the engine by hand.  I'm trouble shooting a starter prob.  I want to make sure engine is not bound up.  Looking from the front, toward the engine........is it clockwise or counter clockwise for the engines normal rotation?   Thanks.
