I need some help with a manifold question. I have a 292 Y block in a 58 Skyliner that came with the stock 2 barrel intake. My father and I decided on installing the MSD fuel injection kit. This required a 4-barrel intake. We bought a ECZ-9424B intake on it but wondering if it is actually compatible with the 292 block? I ask because its running terrible! We have been beating our heads against the wall for months. Heavy dark carbon on the plugs, loading up and backfiring, feels like a vacuum leak. We've checked, checked and re-checked everything from plugs, to gap, many timing changes and adjustments and confirmed firing order. Everything is checking out but no power over 1/4 pedal.
So bottom line question is, does the ECZ-9424B manifold work on the 292? I dont believe it was ever offered on the 292 so not sure if the head and intake runner plane angle actually are the same. I know they bolt up but not convinced they actually work together. If anyone could give a definitive yes or no, it would be appreciated! Thank you!!
