I pour a little 2-stroke gas down the carb on something that's sat a while after turning the engine a few times without starting it.

I have owned old cars for may years and never used any kind of pre-oiler over the winter.  Over the winter, I do start them once a month, getting them up to ,operational  temp.  No problems what so ever.  Looked at the bearings on one of the cars and not problem with them.  I think your looking for a solution for a problem that doesn't exist.

I like to pull all the plugs after storage and crank the engine untill I get oil pressure. This way there is no load on the bearings from compression without oil.

A solution for a non existant problem? Many collector cars left set over the winter or longer with no issues. Fired up a '65 Comet many years ago that had been sitting outside for several years and had no issues with it.

I just purchased a preoiler from Masterlube, and am a fuse and a few wire terminals away from finished installation.  They offer units that can remain mounted in the engine bay, or removable  after each use.  I chose to mount mine permanently, and its a simple install.  Though I havent tried it out yet, I am impressed with the quality of the unit and customer service.  Suggest you check it out, its just what I was looking for.

I was just wondering because I am about to take my car out of winter storage , I know starting an engine that has not been running for a few months is not a good thing. Dry starts are bad for everything . I do use an oil additive in my oil and cover the carb throat and plug the exhaust pipes . Does anyone know of a small preoiler and where would it get hooked up to supply oil before the dry start up. Something that could be left in place and not look so out of place . Just a thought thanks
