Paul not only is it not overfilled it is almost empty of fluid. The dip stick has maybe an 1/8" of fluid on it.

Are you sure  the trans is not overfilled?

Gentlemen, I have a 1956 Mercury Montclair with a 312 engine and the merc o matic transmission. The tranny is leaking from the top. What could be leaking? Is there a breather up there that I can fix or plug up? Tried a stop leak it did nothing. It also leaks when car is not running. TY in advance
