He says it has ECZ main caps, but assumes it is a 292 bored .090". I go with the theory that it is a 312 bored .060. While it is still open I would measure the bore and stroke.

Click on the IMG icon.  To ask another question, it could not be .060 over for either a 292 or 312 and be 3.840 bore.  If it is 3.840 bore and ECZ(312) block, then it can't have either .060 or .090 over pistons, so it has to be a 292 + .090 to be 3.840", which gives his cubic inches at 305.74 cubic inches.  Yes, a bit confusing.  Joe-JDC

The wording of the question is confusing, which has led to several different answers. .090" over on 3.80 isn't 3.84" to start with. And if the pistons are 90 over on 3.80 bore? That is one thin walled engine. especially if there was any core shift...

Tim, is it possible that you looked at the piston upside down, and it is really the much more common .060 over 312?  A 312 + .060 would be 322 cubic inches.

Joe,
Thanks again, a Ford 327 cu inch is better than a 312.
I'll have to get the valve cover decals for a cheby that say '327'
Yes I spelled it 'cheby'
