Is California one of those states that gets all stupid about having a blue light showing to the rear? I've heard of places where the blue jewel had to be blacked out on the bulb side to avoid being cited. So the "blue dot" just became an external décor item - ruins the effect. I talked to a fellow one night, who was thinking about building an LED lighted "blue dot" - with separate wiring - so it only illuminated when it was selected to be on. Such a gadget would be useful in states where they have a poor sense of humor.

Since you guys are on a custom taillight thread - look at this arrangement...... Took me ages to get a decent set (with lenses) and have them re-plated....... and they still haven't made it onto the car!

I cut the center out of the stock light leaving about 3/8" around the perimeter. and cut the center out of the bulb housing on the 50 so I could use the "ring" to mount the chrome bezel. I used a 1/2" thick rubber "donut" gasket between the glass of the 50 and that 3/8" I left when I cut the recessed face of the stock light. I will take a pic of the inside when I get home tonight.

I think they’re pretty cool. Do you get enough light thru the double lens for daytime use, or did you cut the center out of the original?
