Nice truck.    Did you absolutely have to have the 3/4 shaft?    I know O'Reilly's has new lifetime water pump for  $90.  Prices have gone up,  I bought a new pump in 2010 and only paid $36 for it.
Did that 4 speed come in that truck?   I don't see a master cylinder for the clutch.   I didn't know which year started hydraulic  slave for the clutch.

We're all bull headed in one way or another.   I love the stock look of my truck, so I won't change out the 6 lug rear axle for an 8 lug.   Mine has the T98 also,  a lot of tranny for a half ton.
Did you try looking for a Borg Warner with the overdrive?   That would hold up and scoot you down the road.

No,  T98 was never an overdrive.   I was talking about a T85 R11 combo tranny.   Those trannys were used in all kinds of cars,  Fords,  Mercs, Lincolns,  and Stupidbakers!
I just acquired one that was behind a 312 I just bought.   Its gonna get sold here in a while.   My truck has an  auxiliary transmission with overdrive.   5831 Spicer 3 speed.  So I've got a
4 + 3  in my truck.

Greetings: Checked my 57 car shop manual and 64 F100 manual, both list the rocker shaft to cylinder head torque as:  12-15 foot-lbs..   Hope this helps, JEFF...........    That '57 truck is going to be mighty fine.

Yep, 12-15.  20 is pretty high.  That is more like the lower end of a grade 8 spec.

Jecklehyde.  The y-block Ford torque table offered below is from Tim McMaster's web site.

Click the link below to take you there.

That's cool.  I've actually run the strap under the intake manifold and used it to lift an engine in and out!

Nervy?   I used a ratchet strap,  not a lifting strap!   Lifted a 332 Lincoln Y that way too.   Believe me,  that's a heavy beast.  Especially when the bell and flywheel are still on the back.
