I find that Four Seasons part number 74614, heater control valve, has worked very well on my 1954 ford v8. It is not identical to the original, but it fits the space and is very functional. It opens when vacuum is applied. I believe this was used on the early to mid 1980 ford escorts or products in that Ford line.
