I know this has been covered, but a search didn't turn up what I wanted.  Any one have the specs on the 245 HP 57 cam?

The '57 312 245 HP cam (B7A-6250-B), which is the same as the 270 HP dual quad standard cam, has lobe lift of .272" Intake (approx..400" valve lift with 1.54 rockers) and .285" Exhaust (approx. .420" valve lift with 1.54 rockers). The advertised duration is 256 degrees.
  The optional 270 HP cam (dual quad) is # B7A-6250-C. Lobe lift is .290" Intake and Exhaust (.447" valve lift with 1.54 rockers). Advertised duration is 290 degrees Intake and Exhaust. HP is 285.

This is a very old recently revived thread on the "285 HP" cam. Much confusion. A noted restoration guy told me from what he'd seen it was only a dealer option, but even that was very vague in his opinion and documented info. Good reading though.

Greetings to all:  I too was very interested in the 57 cam of the day, the "B" cam, when I created a 312 for my 64 F100 several years ago.  I always thought of the 57 cam as not wild but a good cut above the de-tuned cam.  I had the folks at Oregon Cam grind a duplicate which they claimed to have specs and lobe masters for. I found it to be very close except my copy was ground straight up requiring about 4* advance.  I have since run this cam about 6,000 miles and am very pleased with it.  Seems to be, or at least very close to the real deal.  I will add, it works excellent with stock valve springs since I'm not racing this truck of pushing into the high RPM range and with reasonable fuel economy.  I also sent them (Oregon Cam) a set of used lifters which they re-ground with a nice crown and re-hardened.  This was very reasonably priced. What seems to be the closest cam on the market today  to the 245 hp cam ?  Mummert's V-265 seems to be close, but I understand he had problems with having cams in stock although I have not contacted him about this.

I'm having a 312 built for my 56 Bird and am looking for a cam.  The bird has a stock C-4, 3.31 rear (stock) and I am going to run a original 56 teapot with a 57 distributor.  The teapot has been modified for the 57 distributor.  "C" heads

The Mummert Y-265-S seems like a good choice for a cam. Just slightly more duration and lift than the stock '57 245 HP cam.

I ran an older version of the 270 cam (could still be the same) in my bird, and the 280 in my roadster. I run a stick in both cars, but with an auto I think the 270 would also be fine. John's comments on cams on his chart have been pretty conservative in my experience
