That should be a suitable carburetor to use and they are relatively simple.  I did receive a Y core engine that had one fitted to the intake with an adapter.  It looked both doable and workable.

I have a Rochester 2G on a 276" flathead and it works well. Has anyone put one on a Y-block? The small base 2G is supposed to flow about 280 CFM.
