I was looking for a way to check cam plug or rear main leaks and did a search on EBAY. I may be one of the few that didn't know about these Endoscopes but WOW. What a tool to enable you to look at the back of the block with your cel phone or laptop to check leaks. I don't need one now but I think I'll get one. If anyone has one can you recommend any specific one?

Just some product feedback for you guys - I've been watching these smart phone app endoscopes for about a year now. When they first hit the market, they were about 120.00 and seemed a bit high for me to have one just for occasional use. Just recently, I looked again and they are now in the high 30.00 - 40.00 range. I took a stab and bought one. Holy. Crap. So easy to use, you download the app right to your smart phone or tablet, and the resolution is out of this world - far better than a typical screen-on-unit scope. Also, it's wifi so no wire from your phone/tablet to the unit. Comes with a magnet, mirror tool (to look upwards) and hook thing too. Highly recommend you guys to check one out for the price. My only complaint is, it comes with a mirror you can screw on the end of the lens that lets you look sideways - this is pretty much useless.  Other than that, no issues.

I wonder if I could mount one under the hood of my sons race car aiming at the throttle linkage and really see if he is wide open on he straightaways while he's driving..

A problem with using a camera in a high vibration environment, like a race car is... the vibration.  Unless you can get it to remain perfectly still in relation to the object of the video, it will be very blurry and you may not get any meaningful data.

A camera with image stabilization will be ideal.  An action camera with image stabilization would be best since the design specifications will be the closest to that required for use in a race car.  They are designed to be mounted to things which makes positioning pretty easy.  Some are remote controlled so you tell it to start and stop recording remotely.
