Oldmics.  The impellers in the air intake ports remind me of something offered by J.C. Whitney back-in-the-day in the form of a carburetor to intake manifold spacer with impellers.  I think that offering was for improved fuel economy, but maybe it was touted for improved engine get-up & go performance.   Hehe

It was nice to meet you in person at Carlisle, John.    Kudos for your Merc wagon.  I'd never seen one before.  Nice find.  Salute for transporting all the parts home and gettin' her together.  NICE!

Regards,
Charlie

It would sure look wild on a Y-Block but probably reduce power more than gain. I would like to see some like this but for Weber or at least more modern carbs.

Y's guys rule!
Looking for McCullouch VS57 brackets and parts. Also looking for 28 Chrysler series 72 parts. And early Hemi parts.

If it wasn't 900$ I'd be tempted to pick it up. Linkage would certainly be a problem, but it would sure look cool.

Yes. I enjoy a lot! Tongue
Looks like those medieval turbo compressor wheels got a little bit too tight fitting.

Linkage might be a problem, but I imagine you could probably balance the idle in all eight cylinders in about a week, maybe.  I had enough trouble balancing the 3 SU's on my old Healey.

Warshawsky/J. C. Whitney etc.  called those propeller carb spacers "Mini Superchargers".
What a laugh!

I think they sold them as atomizers,I have a flathead with one under carb.Origional owner of car said it was to better mix air/fuel.I think he told me he installed it around 1960.Different ideas back then, lots of different fuel saving gimmicks could be bought but obviously not for fuel saving on that manifold set.

Yeah, restrictive atomizers is what they are but the advertising headline read "Mini Supercharger" which strikes me as ridiculous and funny..... You'd get the same 'benefit' by sandwiching a piece of window screen between the carb and manifold! LMAO
I'm positive that if you remove the thing, unless you just putt around, your car will run better..
