Are all Yblock fuel pumps the same regardless of year or 239, 272, 292 or 312? Im looking for a fuel pump with a glass bowl that is rebuildable. Or, just a glass bowl that will replace the metal canisters on replacement pumps, if thats an option.

They are not all the same. The 1954 pump is the most different. It looks upsidedown when mounted properly.

Thanks Charlie, so if I locate a glass bowl, I have to make sure it fits the pumps I have. Somewhere I actually saw they are making late model fuel pump replacements with the glass bowl, but not for the Y blocks.

Darrell. Consider this rebuilt fuel pump that is presently on eBay for $9.99 'Buy-It-Now' price with an expedited shipping fee of $11.15. The seller has a high transaction number (7262) and a 99+% rating as an eBay seller / purchaser. Click on the link below to take you to the eBay offering. http://www.ebay.com/itm/CAPAC-Rebuilt-factory-fuel-pump-FORD-V8-Y-block-1955-60-56-57-58-59-/152393507100?hash=item237b5c611c:g:s40AAOSwImRYO22N&vxp=mtrHope this helps.

Thanks NS, came up from the shop and got your post. Shipping was more than you thought but I still ordered it. I been looking for quite awhile and thats cheaper than I could find just the glass and shipping last time I looked. Its on its way. Thanks again.

There are fuel pumps that came on FE engines that fit on yblocks which have a filter on the bottom, but is a canister (replaceable element. I have one on my 54 Ford with a 312.

Thanks Paul, I believe I have one like that on one of my Yblocks now. I wonder if the glass bowls are interchangeable with the metal canisters?

I'm pretty sure they aren't interchangeable, at least on the newer replacements. Just my opinion but as far as buying old stock there is a possibility the diaphragm is dried out after all these years and will crack very soon, it also won't last long with todays fuels. There are rebuild kits available. There were two different pumps, single and dual diaphragm and I didn't see were it said which one it was ?

ok, will be on the lookout for a failed diaphram. Maybe electric on these old engines is a good option? I like the look of the old glass with the Y Block and Ramhorns.

I understand that, I wish I had one too. The last pump I bought for my 223 I6 a few years ago actually had a glass bowl, it was a Carter pump..
