Hey all I am putting down my first post as I have been a lurker for a long time. I am in the final assembly stages of my 1958 Meteor Ranchero and am noticing that the engine is sitting far from level and I cannot see if there is a way to fix this short of shimming the fordomatic at the mount. Is it natural for the engine to have an 3/8+ over 6" lean to the back? Will this cause issues. The transmission is almost level as measured at the pan of the transmission. Here is a picture of the car so you all can see. ?

I am not sure about how level they are supposed to sit but what is important is the driveshaft angles and whether trans u joint and diff match for angles.I know I had a truck with bad "pucks or mounts on trans and it threw the angle out and causes u joint to last only about 6 months.I would likely check angles if you are worried. Nice Meteor,Where are you from?

just buy a cheap magnetic 36o level, check engine(install tool on front crank damper, then do the rear diff flange ,if the degrees are with in 5degrees you are ok) engine mounts are critical, the front 2 are prone to delimitation.on my 57 ranchero the 1s from lord good for 1 year only, tho there warrantee covered the last set. nice meteor. cliff in surrey

From Alberta Edmonton to be exact. Really tough to get parts and expensive not to mention hard to find people who know these old cars. I have learned a lot the hard way on this project.

Surely if engine is on stock rngine mounts and trans mount is original, its where it should be.

You can pick them up at any of the big home improvement stores. I got mine at Home Depot.

Something not mentioned, what's the level show on the intake manifold carb mounting flange? I think that's pretty close to level, but I'm out of town and can't check mine right now.

I have a 58 Ranchero with a 292, I went out to the garage and took a look. It does sit higher in the front and slopes to the rear probably 2"-3". My car is a stick, it is an original 292 car, but does have a later 4-spd. I hope this is helpful!
