Now that members have given me the info re seat belt anchor placements,
is there a vendor that anyone might recommend for the belts?

I used these guys for the 'bird, they had period correct metal on webbing, like back in the days. For a lot of money, you could even get the buckle with the "Ford" script. Don't know if they still offer those. But they had the best color selection I found. Pretty pricey for some models, I used Juliano's for the other car.

I have bought belts from J C Whitney that were of a good quality and didn't break the bank.

I had original seatbelts in my 56 Victoria, my neighbor who is a pilot saw them and said that they were the same as the in his small plane. I trip to the local airport store got me a set of original looking seatbelts for my Crown Victoria.

Lou, that's what I meant by metal on fabric. Dad was a private pilot in the mid '50's, the first seat belts I saw. Didn't know the aircraft guys still used them. He put aircraft belts in the cars, starting in 57 or so. When he bought a 61 Olds with the 394 or so motor, he ordered factory belts. Metal to metal buckle. My brother and I were sure they were no good, the airplane didn't have those.

This may be an odd question about adding seat belts to our old cars if we are not worried about being totally original. In the 70's, GM pickups, maybe Fords too, had a belt system that had either a roll up with a plastic guide which held the male side or fixed length on the outside of a bench seat. I used a fix one on an early pickup and am now wondering If anyone had done this on our Fords. I liked it because it never fell down or got caught between the door and seat. Anyone ever do this installation? Thanks

I haven't done it to my 56 yet, but will. 
I have, however, done it on my 32 Ford.
I put in the inertia lock belts with the sleeves.
Works well & no fiddling at all. Much like any
modern car.

Thanks, Kahuna. I remember that installation as being always easy to reach and I could still fold the seat forward.
