I'd like to add seat belts (front & rear) to my 56 Ford Victoria.
Is there a Ford recommended area that was used originally?
Or, if not, has anyone added these and could possibly give
me some measurements for the locations?
I've got the seats out now and this would be the perfect time
to make the holes, etc. to install them later.
Thanks
Jim

I've wondered the same thing. My seats are out right now also and I have thought about putting belts. Since 56 was the first factory year and my car shows no evidence of any being there I wondered if the factory had welded in a "nut plate" or just punched a hole and used a large washer. I installed many sets in the 60's working at Sears and all we did was push the seat all the way back and go straight down from the back edge of the seat on the fronts. What did the factory installed ones look like or did the dealer just punch a hale when you wanted them. Thanks.

Jim if you get no answer today, I will try and get home in time to measure mine. If not it may be this weekend. You know my 55CV, belts in front, none in back.

Hi Rowen
Hope you had a great TG.
I did the search and found that 56 Fairlane had posted some great factory info re installations.
BUT, I can't read it well at all, even when blown up to full size.
Hoping someone may offer up some measurements for the holes. I'll add a plate undeneath for
strength. I'm going to use the inertia lock type belts as I did in my 32. I really don't care about
the originality at this point.

We've got to get together next year for sure

I checked my 1956 Club sedan the holes for the seat belts are located as follows,on the right side of the car  7 1/2 back from inches from the rear hole where the seat would mount is  one hole, 15 inches across would be the second hole. Under the car there is a 21/2 inch washer on the bolt that is put through the floor. The washer is about 3/16 thick. I hope you understand its a bit hard for me to explain .

Thanks Glasstop. Is the 2-1/2" round washer attached to the body floor in anyway( spotweld) or is it part of the sandwich of the attachment bolt? Thanks.

Hi all

a fellow y-blocker sent this to me some time ago - it's seat belt instructions for '52-'56 Fords.  The resolution of the document isn't great, but hopefully it will help.  Let me know if the document does not come through and I can email it to you.
