The Gear should be interchangeable. They are on the OEM Ford Distributors. Other than that You should have no problem as You will have the later Oil Pump and Shaft.

Hey guys...first time post, just recently stumbled into the site once Y blocks came into my life!
I currently have a '54 Dearborn 239 that I'm going to be putting in a 1939 Ford Truck project of mine. I plan on swapping the distributor to an aftermarket unit or a '57 or later unit, but had a question. I understand to do this, I need to install a later version oil pump with hex drive (pretty much the only ones available now), the hex intermediate shaft, but wanted to be sure that my 13 tooth drive gear will simply swap out for the later version 14 tooth. I didn't know if there was any other technicalities I'm missing.
Thanks!
