Anyone have a couple of extra sockets for a 1955 Ford backup light housing? I've got everything but the sockets.

thanks

Rockauto.com sells a Dorman Part #85807 universal with backing plate 2 wire socket, $2.16 plus shipping each. They list others in their tools & universal parts, electrical- bulb & socket, universal socket section . Being a Dorman part you should be able to find just about any parts store, lots of them sell Dorman products. Looking at them for a project of mine, a friend recommended them to me. Maybe this will help, good luck.

It seems as though the 55-6 sockets are much larger than usual and therefore hard to find.  I just looked in my Larry's Thunderbird catalog and they have the pigtail for the 55-6, but the whole assembly for the 57.  It might be a one only application, but there are enough 55-6 cars and 'Birds out there, somebody should have a pair or at least one.  I got lucky and my local Pick-n-pull had a 56 mostly parted out and the sockets were the only thing I could find that was useful.  FWIW, I've used the same sockets in both 55 and 56 housings.

Thanks Don, that is good information to know. I guess I will take the housing down to the local auto parts store and have a look see. When I look at catalogs like Larry's Thunderbird, most do not even list the socket. If they do have a socket it always come with the wiring pigtail (which is single by the way). I do have a new pig tail for each side, just need those metal sockets that would house the actual bulb.
