Hi all,
I posted about this 9 days ago and got some great answers and ideas. Sorry for the new post but since I cannot log in and conventionally reply - only can do new posts and I even followed the suggestions from Ted and others. Also had my the work IS people dump the cache, cookies, etc. Even sent an email to
jculver@y-blocksforever.com but didn't get a response.
Anyway, even with a new road draft filter, verification that the drain is completely open, gasket to road draft tube assembly and gasket for the can were both dry and oil tight, I still had oil coming out the outlet tube. At idle there was no oil. At cruising speed though, it seems to fill up and then drip quickly out the bottom. In 14 miles it ran out a full quart.
I did a compression check and all cylinders are 95 to 105 psi with most being about 100 psi. It runs awesome.
I'm running Valvoline conventional 10W30 with a flat tappet cam additive from Lucas.
Over this past weekend, I removed the side mounted road draft tube and installed a block-off plate along with a later model valley pan and top/rear mounted Thunderbird reproduction road draft tube. I've got no oil coming out now which doesn't surprise me due to the new location. I don't have any excess vapor coming out like if there was excessive blow-by.
I'm afraid I didn't fix what the real problem was, but it's now drivable at least.
Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Nick in WI
