Thanks for your reply regarding the ring gear for my 56 T-bird.  I will check with my mechanic tomorrow and see if this will work for me and let you know.

I have one from a 55 which might fit, not sure.  Mine is in decent used condition, form a 3 spd auto with a finned aluminum torque convertor that the gear is bolted to. In central California. I just reread your post and realized I was assuming you meant started ring gear and not ring as in ring and pinion.
