Quite the ride. Good job on the scrub. Back in 67, I bought a 55 bird, with a really well built 60 over 312. 11.5 Jahns pistons, RPM 300 Isky cam, etc. Blew up the Fordo, and put in a T-85 o/d, with the 4.27 rear from a 6 cyl o/d wagon. Cruising home one night, an older guy (I was 17, everybody was an older guy) pulled up and started screwing around in a 56 Vette. Drop dead gorgeous blond girl friend. When my car dropped out of 2nd over and left him, I could hear him frantically going for second gear. I braked about an 1/8 mile later for my turn off, and he passed me. Girl friend was LHAO. That wasn't the first or last, and I didn't always win. But 50 years later, that was the best.

My first Y Block was a '58 Ford Custom 300 4 door that my uncle had bought new. I got it I 1963. I replaced the Fordamatic with an all syncro 3 speed out of a '63 Ford with a Hurst Syncro loc shifter. Added a Carter AFB off of a 312 Merc and dual exhausts. Installed a 3.89 open rear end. I could get 3rd gear rubber all day long with it. Full throttle power shifts were no problem. Had a lot of fun with it and beat a lot of small block scrubys among others.
