Hey everyone. I recently purchased a 55 fairlane Victoria. I have been doing some research on original paint colors and interior. I cant find anything that says what color the dash and tops of the doors should be. I have looked at pics online. Its definitely a different color than the exterior. Any help?

I don't know about other colors but in 1955 our non metallic mountain green convertable had 2 different metallic greens on the dash and one of them was on the window sills and defroster deflector. I've seen charts on eBay and they may cover all the colors. I'm glad our 56 did not have this problem. Good luck.

I spent many hours trying to find a paint code for the interior colors in my '56 Parklane. I found paint codes for exterior colors but never interior. I did discover the interior color that I was looking for was cleverly called "medium green". I ended up taking the glove box door off and have a paint specialist scan and ultimately match the color. The paint shop ended up doing a nice job.
If by chance your paint scheme includes green (don't know how '55 and '56 colors compare), I think I could find the formula from the paint shop if you want to use that as a starting point.

Wow thanks! The exterior colors are mountain green and snowshoe white. Having the paint matched off the inside of the glove box is a great idea. Thanks a lot. I am going to do more research and see what I come up with.

Top..as I remember the metallic green on the inside of the glove box will only match the lower part of the dash where the heater, radio, clock, key, and othe switches are. The upper dash was a different metallic and I believe lighter. Once again good luck..

Top.. Go to classiccars.com , 1955, ford, Fairlane. Enter. The first one is a mountain green convert. Photo #43 shows the 2 metallics of the dash. The 3rd car is a mountain green and white Victoria. There is a photo of the unrestored dash in two tone metallic green. I believe these are good examples. I've got a guy who has a lost of old paint sample sheets and hopefully there are some on interiors. If I find any the ill post it here.

So here is the latest info on the interior dash color saga. I e-mailed paintref.com. I got a response from Jon saying he had the ditzler interior colors for 1955 Ford. Some of the codes are obsolete. It was slightly helpful. I think I am going to have the paint matched from the tops of the door panels and the inside of the glove box. Here's the link he sent. http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/chipdisplay.cgi?year=1955&manuf=Ford&smodel=Fairlane&info=yes&page=3

top that sounds perfect. If possible on your door frame tops or rear side window tops the under side lips may never have seen the sun and cleaned be the perfect thing to match. Once I saw a 55 Victoria that had your same problem and painted the top of the dash mountain green and the bottom white. It was nice but living with the correct colors from 55 to 64 it just wasn't right. Didn't say anything to the guy but if I would have bought it the first thing would have been to repainted it. Back then I could not figure out Ford at all. The black and white cars had black and white dashes, etc. the mountain green ones sure stumped me..good luck.

The Crown Victoria Assoc. likely has all the color info on 55-56 Fords. Their address in Ohio is available in Hemmings & other magazines, including Y-Block Magazine

Hi topgun1, this is my 1st post on Y-Blocks Forever and hope I can be of some help. I've got a passenger car body parts catalogue for the `55 - `57 Ford. It lists the interior paint number and color for the following.. Seat side shield, Sun visor bracket, Instrument panel, Steering column, and Garnish moldings. With your car being Mountain green and Snowshoe white, the interior color is Medium green metallic and Dark green metallic. I can post the paint number and color for the interior items above if you like...
