Bill: I've never seen one like the right hand piece? Is the ridge in the middle to do with choke heat?

When Ford discontinued putting the tube through the Y-Block intake manifolds as the heat source for the choke, the choke ‘stove’ was relocated to the right side exhaust manifold.
