Im just curious whats the weight of the average Y block engine , say with carb and exhaust manifolds..? Despite another 10 guesses, they are around 630 lb, on average.

UGH! Late for the test. Here's a bunch of figures from JM's web site. Click the link that follows and scroll down on the page... http://www.ford-y-block.com/dimensions.htmHope this helps if you're thinking about things you might leave off or swap-out to lose some weight.

The reason you will see a variation in weights is it depends on how the engine is put on the scale, Some will have the bell and fly wheel others will have the generator or motor mounts!
