Miss read, still use ultra black gasket maker but on both sides of rubber gasket for the valley pan with no leaks.

I have recently installed a 312 valley pan using the "right stuff" in place of the gasket.I did so because the pan was tweaked and would not seal properly.It does not leak.The "right stuff" will even stop a scruby six from leaking around the tappet covers!!

I agree with Mark. I've been using the aviation "Permatex" that comes in a can with a brush applicator for years. Really good stuff. Follow the directions and you can't go wrong. Also, keep in mind that the 2 psi torque speck for the valley pan was for the flimsy original pan that everyone over-torqued. With the cast aluminum ones you can give it a bit more with no worries.

Permatex "The Right Stuff" is what I use. Excellent sealing. 

57 Black Tbird 312/auto

I got one of Mummert;s aluminum valley covers and was thinking about just using RTV rather than a gasket.  Any one do this and how did it turn out.  And what do you use if it turned out good.
