Has anyone installed a MP Brakes upgrade kit?. Were you satisfied with their kit & service?. I'm looking at their basic drum brake Booster for a 57 Ford Fairlane 500. For some reason they offer 3 sizes of Boosters in  7", 8" & 9" kits. Not sure why at this point?  Any information appreciated.

Paul, I can't help with the MP conversions, I used another vendor out of the west coast. Booster size is usually looked at for boost versus clearance. In general, bigger units reduce pedal effort, or maintain the effort on a lower vacumn motor (think big cam). Then you have to look at clearance. Lots of applications, the exhaust manifolds or valve covers come into play. Especially if a small block has been replaced by a big block engine swap. I don't know about your 57, but on little birds the hood latch mechanism is a problem. So, smaller booster, moved outboard, battery in trunk.

miker;  My install would be on a stock cammed 1957 Y-block car. As MP Brakes is in N. Carolina, would you mind giving me the name of the West Coast supplier, as that might also work out better for me. Thanks.

Paul,

I've used ABS Brakes, Orange CA. on OT cars. They show a 57 booster that's offset for clearance. Should be worth a phone call.

You also might try a search at 57fordsforever.com. You'll have to join to run a search I think. Or someone else may chime in here.

Miker; I purused their on line info without finding the 7" offset booster you referred too. Most of their kits are for complete re dos of a braking system. That's far beyond what I'm lookin for. But ,I'll give them a call when its convenient. Thanks
