Paul, the two speed has a one piece bell and case made of aluminum. This is the real deal with the ring gear on the flex plate/flywheel.Pete

I'm confused?. Maybe I'm the only one? It's listed as a 1959, which I've been given to understand were 2 spd only models, not like earlier FOMs, which are actually 3 spds with low gear by select.  However, Pete, you describe it as the "real deal"  (earlier model ?), as opposed to the one piece aluminum case 2 spd units. So, then it's not really a 1959?..

Paul the FOM name was used for the iron case 3 speed until 1958  when it became the iron case 3 speed Cruise O Matic. THE ONE ON craigslist has an iron case that is separate from the bell. The starter ring gear is on the flex plate NOT on the torque converter as the earlier ( PRE 1958 ) iron case 3 speed FOM. The imput shaft has more splines and the later COM flywheel/flex plate, torque converter, imput shaft can be mated to a FORD FMX and used behind a Yblock Ford. Confusing, blame Henry Ford. Pete

Thanks for the clarification.  So that trans would be good for a Fordo/FMX conversion, like used on the Hoozier Hurricane ?.... your reference to Henry Ford  would of course be to Henry the "Deuce"..
