Well, I just got back from dropping my 292 engine and all the new rebuild parts off with Tony Jr. at TOE Performance Products. In 6 to 8 weeks we should be making some noise (and horsepower) on the dyno. I will post pictures of the rebuild as it progresses. Here is what we are starting with...

The engine is completely torn down and the block and crank have been magnifluxed with no issues. So progress continues.

Here is the latest on my engine rebuild. All the machining is done and the block has been detailed. Everything has been moved into the assembly area for build up. Here are a couple of pictures of the detailed block.

The engine is a 1961 292 that is bored out 60 over with forged aluminum pistons. Compression ration is 9.3:1 and the displacement is 301 cubic inches. It has Mummert aluminum heads and intake with an Edlebrock EFI system. I am using a Y280-I-11 cam. Ignition system I am using is a MSD billet distributor, coil, and 6AL ignition box. I have an Aeromotive in tank fuel pump to feed the throttle body EFI. The throttle body is on a 2 inch tapered four hole Wilson spacer. I will be using an Olds/Caddy filter housing to hide the modern EFI connections. Plus it will look cool with the fined valve covers.
Anyone want to take a guess at what the dyno numbers will be?

Because you're using fuel injection, it's hard to judge one way or the other. However, just for fun & looking at #s that Mummert posted quite some time ago, with a somewhat similar (but 337cu.in.) build, except it used a 600cfm carb & with the Y280-1-11 Cam, I'll give it a try.. 345 H.P. & 370 Lb.Ft...

Neoprene. I got it form Mummert. The engine suffered a minor set back while it was being broken in on the dyno. As the engine came up to opetating temperature, it dropped engine rpm. Turns out that there wasn't enough radial clearence between the oil rings and the piston. Ordered a new set of oil rings from Total Seal and that should fix the problem.
