John Hildebrand has set the date for this years West Coast Y-Block Shootout for May 2nd at Barona Dragstrip. The date is a Saturday and coincides with the annual Antique Drags event which will assure us a crowd. The plan is to have time trials in the morning and eliminations after the lunch break. In the past the Antique Drags crowd has thinned pretty early leaving us plenty of time for the Y-Block event.
We will have some new attendees with Todd's Falcon, Pete's truck, Gene's F-100 and most of the previous years competitors returning. Joe, Buzz and Al  are showing their continued enthusiasm.
Y-Block powered vehicles of any kind are welcome whether to race or not. FE, Lincoln powered welcome also and there might even be some from the Flathead/Banger clubs. I would say if it has a Ford engine introduced before 1960, bring it out.

Very cool - it will be great to see the gang and hopefully a bunch of new faces (and cars) this year too!

I just got a flyer for the All Ford Picnic to be held May 3rd, the day after the Shootout at nearby Santee Lakes.
Car show and picnic at Lake #1, closest to entrance.
Picnic is put on by Early Ford V8 Club. Contact Rick Carlton @ 619-512-7058 for more information

My family is considering making the West Coast Y-Block Race this year.   We would tow the '57 there, race Saturday, hang out with the group and then take the kids to the San Diego Zoo.  We may use the '57 as transportation while there, if someone can store the truck and trailer over the weekend.
I'm finally down to only two major customer cars to finish before I can start working on my sedan again.   I'd like to see the Mummert machine shop while there.
I'll keep everybody in touch with my progress.

Just booked a Seattle to SD flight for this event. This'll be a hoot - can smell it already. Looking forward to putting a few faces with names seeing the machines.
Will the Y block event be after the post lunch eliminations or will Y's run morning time trials and eliminations with the rest of the pack? Bringing a few local family members so trying to nail down the best time of day to see the Y blocks.

I got confirmation that my entry form was accepted and is in the mail for the race as well.   Getting the truck freshened up for the long trip right now.   We will be in California very soon.
