I am looking for a cross drilled camshaft for a 292 p/u. My truck is a 63 which I guess they started using the cross drilled cams again. I already have the cross drilled cam bearings in the block. Mine cam has some pretty major pitting on the edges of the lobes. I don't know if the cross drilled camshaft lobes are the same on the 55,56 maybe you guys can give me some info on that. you can email me at Raymondac23@yahoo.com if you have one.

The cam bearings for cross drilled camshafts are compatible with the grooved camshafts. A quick search does not find any new cross drilled camshafts but taking a new 'grooved' camshaft and having the groove cut deeper will alleviate any concerns about the oil flow being pinched off at a later date due to cam bearing 'softness'.

Ray: If by chance you are planning on using a performance cam, John Mummert Y-block in Calif, advertises that his company regrooves all cam cores to ensure adequate oiling. You can link to his site from this sites opening page..
