Hi all,

It's time for a new exhaust system on my '56 Parklane.  I put the larger exhaust manifolds on the car. I would like to run some flowmasters, and I intend to run exhaust deflectors through the holes cut in the rear bumper.  What OD exhaust pipes can I use?  Will the exhaust deflectors limit my choices on the diameter of the exhaust pipes?  Is there a source for pre-made mandrel bent exhaust pipes for these cars or am I headed to a custom exhaust shop?  Thanks for any insight,

I hope this will help.  I have seen several bone stock Parklanes. They did not come with the bumper exhaust outlets.  Pre bent exhaust is available from several sources. I would check " Macs".

I used 21/4" exhaust and it will fit with the bumper outlets. I hope this helps.

A station wagon wouldn't have the exhaust exiting out the rear. Fumes could come in the rear window if open. A wagon exhaust exited out the side behind the rear wheel.

Thanks Jim and Dennis for the comments. I don't know if Parklanes were ever originally equipped with bumpers with exhaust ports but I have seen a few Parklanes in pictures online equipped that way. I am swapping out a beat up bumper for one with ports because I really like them. I realize they can be a hazard with the rear window open, but I won't drive the car that way. Thanks again for the feedback, it's helpful.

Mike, no manufacturer would have put the exhaust out the back on a wagon. My pinto wagon exits on the side as does my suburban.

When we first got our '57 wagon the pipes exited out the back.  Even with the lift gate closed there was enough leakage around the weatherstripping and fitment of the tail and lift gate to allow some fumes to be drawn into the car.  New exhaust goes out each side.
