THERE IS NO RUSH TO DO THEM, BUT I MIGHT BE LOOKING FOR A SET OF HEADERS TO USE ON MY 312 Y BLOCK. IT IS IN A 1954 FORD CUSTOMLINE. I THOUGHT ABOUT USING A SET OF THUNDERBIRD HEADERS, BUT IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE IT WILL FIT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE BECAUSE OF THE PLACEMENT OF THE STEERING BOX. ANY SUGGESTIONS?
THANK YOU, ZACH

I can't speak directly on a '54, but in general bird or truck headers won't work. Trucks use a front motor mount and mounts on the bellhousing, the birds used a similar set up with rods on the sides to prevent the motor from rocking. Cars used side motor mounts, and the bird/truck/rams horns typically won't clear those mounts.
You can get a look at various headers here at Red's site. I had a set of bird headers from him some years back and they were fine. Don't know about current units. Jerry Christensen may still make passenger car headers.

Doesn't the 57 and later manifolds flow almost or as good as headers? If that's the case then you will have 0 fitment issues.

You will need a floor shift for the Rex headers.

I CHECKED OUT THE ONES FROM RED'S AND THEY ARE ABOUT THE PRICE RANGE I AM LOOKING FOR. I WOULD LIKE TO RUN LARGER THAN THE 1-3/4 INCH. I WAS LIKING THE DUEL TUBE OR THE 2 INCH TUBE ONES. IT LISTS THE EARLIEST YEAR AS 55...HAS ANYONE GOTTEN THEM TO RUN ON A 54? THEY SAID THEY WON'T WORK, BUT IF ANYONE HAS DONE A MODIFICATION TO FIT, THAT WOULD BE AWESOME.
THANKS AGAIN, ZACH

My guess is they will not work on a 239 1954 engine because the exhaust ports are very small compared to the later years, thus they will not seal properly. WLJ

P.S. Zack, best talk to them; they used to be in Northern Ca.
