1958 Ford Industrial Y-Block, motor turns over by hand I removed one of the vales covers and it looks very clean inside. The motor was used on a wind machine in the orchards in Santa Paula Ca. so in probably has very few hours of run time. come with truck bell housing and clutch assembly. see pictures

The question was asked because some y-block boat applications rotate in the opposite direction of cars and trucks.

Most y-block intake manifolds have the firing order identified just in front of the carburetor...

I'm chuckling, Mark. I guess some quips ARE 'universal'.

Yes, I experienced the meaning of 'assume' at 19 while also learning that there IS a reason for checking everything...

Being up against the clock, I had decided to skip the bluing check on a set of freshly ground valves and seats before head assembly... Heck, it had never shown me anything on any valve job I'd done.

When fired up, the rebuilt engine ran, BUT... After a vacuum check, compression test, and cylinder leak down test... I took the heads back off for dis-assembly because the valves seemed to be leaking!?!

IF I'd used the bluing check, the slightly misaligned valve seats would have been detected. A bent Sioux tapered valve guide pilot??? Yup. Really!

So... the importance of not taking shortcuts became evident. Blush
