Hi guys, I'm a Y block newbie to a certain extent, i'm building up a 292 truck motor mated to a C4 for my Willys pick up, I want a usable driver type motor.So far I have a good block, Fenton 3x2 Holley 94 setup, G spec heads an Isky mild cam etc etc

My questions are would you use cast or forged pistons ?
Also what diameter tube headers do you suggest, I was thinking 1 5/8" ?

Cast pistons will be fine for a street engine.

Thanks for the reply Al, yes the Y block is not a common motor here but i've had this one hanging around for years just waiting to find a project to put it in, its going in a Willys pickup gasser style.
Yes I know of Mummerts and have bought a few parts from them.

I actually met Ted for the first time last September at the day of the drags in Little River raceway, he was a gentleman and answered lots of questions for me.
I really wanted to know what people would suggest for primary size tube, I would of though 1 5/8" ???

1 5/8 should be fine for a street low end motor.

Be aware that we will want pictures and notes as you go along. Sounds like a fun project, good luck.
