kinda new to the y scene, but like these old motors,i came across a set of g's and a set of 113's, trying to find out which set would be better to put money into?

My vote is for the 113s because they flow alittle better than the Gs and all of the 113s are posted. The Gs have alittle more compression meaning 9.7 and the 113s 9.0, but the unshrouded intake on the 113s makes up the difference in power in my opinion and not all the Gs are posted.

I second Gary's reply! ALL of the 113s are posted AND there seems to be less valve shrouding on the intake. The combustion chamber size is so close that I see it as a non-issue compression wise.

I've got 113s on the Model A, the Unibody and the dragster. They work very well!

I put 113 heads on my 292. After I had them milled .040", the chambers averaged out at ~67cc each. This yields 9.0 SCR (.040 over, zero decked). 1200 delightful miles on the motor. So far, no problems.

Thank you all for the info, i will look into the 113's little bit more to make sure they are all good, shooting for the 300hp mark, is that possible without using a 312 crank? i have a 9425-b that is opened up, the center divider is out and the plenum area is opened up,and the runners matched, also have a stock 9425-b, after the head change i am going to dyno run with both intakes to see what the power curve difference is.

The 113s and B intake will be a good step toward the 300hp mark but you'll also need a good cam, exhaust, more compression, ignition tuning, carb tuning, maybe porting. More cubes definitely help, but no, a 312 crank is not a requirement.

For cylinder head comparisons, see if this link helps. http://forums.y-blocksforever.com/Topic61587.aspx
