It will be tough to make 300 hp with unported heads and a B intake

I did some dyno testing a while back on a bone stock 292 short block. Started with all stock stuff and added headers intakes and carbs to see what happened to power output. About the best I could do with unported Gs was 275-280 horse

After the heads were ported, with a Blue Thunder intake and a 230 degree cam it made 325

Unfortunately the original posting asking about the 113 heads, does not say anything about what he intends to do with them. I'd say it's a saw off versus the "G" heads if going with a relatively stock engine. Apparently the 113s have less valve shrouding & may breath a touch better, but the compression is lower. On the other hand, Ted's chart shows the "G"s have the best low end overall power of all the factory heads tested. Unfortunately, the only 113 heads tested, were ported & possibly milled slightly, so a direct point comparison can't be made. Other things to consider are, that early "G" heads are not posted which is important in some cases & I've heard that 113s are more prone to center exhaust area cracks than some other heads..

Thats the info i was looking for, i really want the 300 mark, my setup now is a isky rpm-300 cam,1.54 rockers, headers, msd and pertronix ignition,.060 over keith black pistons, and way to low compression 8.4-1 coae heads,

when the bank account is ready for it BigGrin, i plan to get the true roller adjustable timing set to degree the cam in right, the g set i have seems to be in better shape then the 113s so i will do some investigating, i am using a stock dizzy with mechanical advance,i have the vac unhooked, is it worth going with msd dizzy?

Mummert posted the flow rates of the different heads a few years ago and the 113s outflowed the Gs by a small margin.

LOL! Let them waste their breath, was just talking the other day about all the people who ran old Scrub 6 cylinders and such back in the day, looked up at all the Y's still running and wondered what happened to all those scrubs? don't see a one anywhere but the Y's are still tooting their original cars around.
