Y bolck 292 with FMX questions.  When I take off and give it the gas kind of hard say 3/4 throttle the car shifts fine. When I take off from a dead start rounding a corner it seems to be into third gear before I finish rounding the corner. Would playing with the adjustment on the vac. modulator help delay the slow takeoff shift? thanks for the help.  Gerry

I don't believe the modulator setting has anything to do with shift points. If the FMX is like a FOM,the shift points can be changed by adjusting the length of the kick down rod.

There is no kick down rod just a cable from carb to shift leaver. Gerry

It still is probably just a matter of getting the cable adjusted to the correct length. That may mean changing some settings on the throttle linkage along with the cable.I'm not familiar with your set-up,but some of the other folks on here are and will likely chip in.

There is a lot about the FMX kickdown and the vacuum modulator discuss in this thread:

FYI, for a kick down cabel I was able to buy one from Locar. Works really well and extremely easy to set up. Just remember to get the intake brackets that Locar sells as well. If I remember correctly, the setup cost me about $75.00, well worth it and a buddy and myself set up the kick-down in about 5 min.
