Ok, T-5 is in, only waiting for a drive shaft. The only snag I have run into is the speedo cable. The stock cable will not fit the Mustang T-5, will a Mustang cable fit my stock 56 speedometer???? I want to keep the stock gauge if I can, has anyone solved this issue? *** on and interesting note, for anyone who wants to do this conversion, the stock Fordomatic cross member, lines up perfectly with the T-5 mount. I simply had to turn it upside down, notch it slightly to clear the T-5 and it bolts back in using 2 of the 3 original bolt holes in the frame! This was a pleasant surprise, for I thought I would have to fabricate a mount.
I love the smell of burning rubber in the morning!

There have to be places who can build a cable. But I think I've heard that newer transmissions will turn the cable the wrong way for older speedos. So you might check into that. My stock cable did work when I converted the truck.

Hmmmm thanks Charlie, never thought of that! I know there are some members here that have done this conversion, curious as to what they have done.

If the T-5 takes the same speedo cable as the 70s a 65 galaxie cable will work,I used one when installing the C-4 in my 55. The newer cables dont screw on the speedo.

Rob, Don't know about up there in the Colonies, but I have seen a catalog in the local parts store with like 100 different types and lengths. If you CAN'T find something, let me know and I'll see what I can find here.

I used these guys to build a cable for me, T5 to my autometer speedo. They did an excellent job, but i'm not sure what you are looking to spend.

Mine has a S10 tail so its different. I went to the parts house and went through the catalog till i found one with the correct ends and length.

Been 10 years since I did my T5 conversion. No idea who it was I had build the speedo cable. Was in Minn I believe. Found it with search on the web. Sent original cable marked the speedo head end with masking tape saying I need one end to match this and marked the tranny end with masking tape saying need to fit 90 Mustang V-8 T5. Added a couple of inches to length for safety. Guess I was just lucky everything turned the right direction. Bought several driven gears and using 21 with my 3.73 gears and P235-70-15 tires. TC

I have a T-5 in my 56 M100 and I used a Lokar speedo cable for Fords. It has the Ford end for the transmission. The cable can be cut to length and they provide a little tool to attach the square tang to the speedo end. Different driven gears are available so you can get the speedometer to read right.
