Howdy all,

I have NEVER been able to click the check-box "Remember Me" and have it actually remember me on each subsequent log-in. I always have to re-enter my password. Is anyone else able to use this feature?

"Server Error in '/forums' Application":

Does any one else get this error message once in a while when trying to view any post in the entire forum?

I seem to get it frequently (once or twice a month) and it only happens on this forum. I've never gotten it on other forums (which use either vBulletin or other forum software)

The full message is pasted below.
Server Error in '/forums' Application.
Index was outside the bounds of the array.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.IndexOutOfRangeException: Index was outside the bounds of the array.

Source Error:

The source code that generated this unhandled exception can only be shown when compiled in debug mode. To enable this, please follow one of the below steps, then request the URL:

1. Add a "Debug=true" directive at the top of the file that generated the error. Example:
<%@ Page Language="C#" Debug="true" %>or:
2) Add the following section to the configuration file of your application:

Note that this second technique will cause all files within a given application to be compiled in debug mode. The first technique will cause only that particular file to be compiled in debug mode.

Important: Running applications in debug mode does incur a memory/performance overhead. You should make sure that an application has debugging disabled before deploying into production scenario.

I used to stay logged in all the time but after a conversation with Jim a few years ago I realized that by staying logged in the hit counter was not picking up my visits more than once per day. So now a log in manually each time I visit. Keep that hit counter spinning! Chuck

I get the server error frequently. In fact, i got it just about all day on sunday. I tried several computers, logged in and not, and kept getting it.. Very frustrating!

Many of those error problems are site related and most of those go back to some Java script issues where an outside source worked on the ‘code’.  While some of the damage has been repaired, it’s going to take a reload of the site into some new software to get it back to being like new.  While Jim is working towards this, it’s still going to be a bit before it happens.  I’m having the same lockups and error messages as the rest of you and it can be frustrating.  Each time the site hangs up, it requires a reboot from Jim’s end to get it back up so I know it has to be frustrating for him also.  If Jim happens to be out of pocket when the site goes into error mode, then it stays there for awhile.

Hi Ted. Thanks for that info!

I didn't think it was my computer because it does it on different computers, different operating systems and browsers.

This DELL laptop is running OpenSUSE Linux 12.1 I got the same errors with Firefox and Konqueror and on my other netbook running Winblows XP and Firefox or I.E 8.x etc.

In addition, I have never been able to get the "Remember Me" function to work either but that's most likely unrelated.

I hope you guys get it fixed easily. Maybe an update (or patch) to InstantASP will fix it.......(or maybe it's time to consider a switch to an opensource forum package like phpBB etc)

Cheers,

Rick

i have the same problem. it never remembers me and if i'm on the site very long it freezes up on me. i have to leave the site for a while before i can log in again. it seams to be worse on the weekends when more people are on the site. i'll be glad to put up with it as long as the site and i are around, thanks jim for all your hard work, i know it can't be easy.
