Sorting through old parts and came across small base intake that I always thought was '55 Ford or T-Bird. Checked my T-Bird restoration manual and it looks exactly like the one pictured. The book says ECB9425-B. Mine is marked ECB8425-B. Painted Ford red. Has water outlet and the hose part is smaller than the one on my '57. I want to sell it and it would help if I was sure what it was. Prefer the large base intake and carb but this would be great for a restoration or someone that  wants or needs the correct intake. Could be a casting error but I would think that was not likely. Just double checked the number and it is an 8, not a 9.

9425 is the number for an intake. If it is an intake, it is 9425, not 8425.

I understand what you are saying but it is an 8, not a 9. I will have to assume it is a casting error. It is definately an intake manifold. Any ideas what a fair asking price would be? See the '57 manifolds for sale a lot but no '55's. I see $200 asking prices for these. Would the '55 be worth less because of the lack of performance potential or worth more because it is harder to find? Would love to find it a new home for a fair price to someone.

The 9 can look like an 8 if there is just a bit of crud.

Does it look like this one?

No idea what it's worth. If it's Tbird only, probably a lot but if it was pretty much for everything, probably not much.

That's it. Will watch this one and see if it sells. T-Bird and Ford intakes should be the same. Mine has the water outlet on it that points up which I think is passenger car. My T-Bird points straight out to the front. Actualy I think the T-Bird would be more common  because they were all 4 barrel's. Saw a lot of '55 Fords back in the day and only remember one that was a 4 barrel. They made 272 4 barrels in passenger cars and a few 292 4 barrels in passenger cars but I think they were mostly police cars and special order cars. That would make them sort of rare but not necessarily valuable.

From 57, cars, trucks, birds, fairlanes, galaxie etc on they were common, they are becoming scarcer than valuable.Smile

T-Bird water outlets point straight forward, as you said.  Passenger car ones point upward at about a 45 degree angle to the passenger side.  Truck ones point straight up, angled slightly forward.

I have been discussing this intake with a couple of my friends. Anybody ever actualy see a '55 Ford, other than a T-Bird, with a factor 4 barrel? The books parts books show a 272 4 barrel and 292 4 barrel. I remember one that somone had when I was in high school that was supposedly a 292 4 barrel. Saw a '55 Victoria at the car shows several years ago that was a 292 4 barrel. The owner said it was special ordered by a Sherif's department. It is my understanding that the 292 4 barrel was mostly a police car option. Every one I can remember was a 2 barrel 272. Anyone have a factroy 272 4 barrel car or actualy seen one?? Just curious about the rare ones.

I,m guessing theres more chance of 55 customline 272 with 2 bbl carb and 55 fairlane 292 with 4bbl.BigGrin
